Spring at the Florida Garden has been drawn out, thankfully, with some days in the mid-80’s for temperature then returning to days with high temperatures in the mid-60’s and nights in the 40’s. We have not had a 90 degree day yet. This has allowed a number of plants to have prolonged blossom times, as well as opportunity to build up their leaves and branches. Good examples of this are our DAYLILY beds, now with five varieties all blooming profusely along the front walk and in the backyard next to the lanai. These Florida varieties are very rugged, able to survive high temperatures and long dry spells, but our mild and wet spring has allowed them to leaf out, with many more blooms than usual. The current display along our front walk is visible from the street, providing a nice welcome mat to the rest of our Florida Garden.
