Week of April 29

Not many flowers are shared between our Florida Garden and the TAProots or lakehouse gardens. One flower that is at both is the DAYLILY. In Florida, we have small beds of them in the front and back yards. They are rather sparse growing, without a lot of foliage. They have beautiful lily flowers in yellows and bronzes. They can really stand the heat and dryness, so we grow them in sunny spots. They start to bloom in April and continue for weeks. In New York, they are about two months later. They add the warm yellow and reddish colors to the white and blue flowers elsewhere in the Florida Garden. Simple but elegant.
